Dr. SM Khaliduzzaman, a candidate for Dhaka-17 constituency, has conducted an eight-day free medical camp for people affected by the recent devastating fire in Dhaka’s Korail slum. The initiative was undertaken to ensure emergency medical support for residents of the affected and surrounding areas, where health risks increased following the fire.
Experienced physicians and health workers provided services at the camp every day from morning to evening. Primary healthcare, burn treatment, respiratory and infection-related services were offered for fire victims and low-income families, along with free distribution of essential medicines. Special healthcare arrangements were also made for children, women, and the elderly.
Dr. S M Khaliduzzaman said, “It is our humanitarian duty to deliver medical assistance to the affected people.” He also urged the government to set up additional medical camps to ensure adequate treatment facilities for the victims.
Locals affected by the fire said that at a time when they were struggling due to a lack of medical care after the accident, this camp became a major source of support for them.
