We are transparent about our funding sources and we ensure that funders have no influence over the conclusions we reach in our fact-checks.
Organizational structure and legal status
Diplotic operates as a non-profit fact-checking and media literacy initiative registered in Bangladesh. Legal registration: License No. TRAD/CHTG/007713/2025.
Funding Sources
Diplotic is currently 100 % volunteer-run and crowdfunded.
- All team members (researchers, writers, editors, and management) work on a voluntary, unpaid basis with the sole aim of promoting unbiased fact-checking and raising media-literacy awareness among readers.
- Operational expenses (website hosting, fact-checking tools, graphics, minimal administrative costs, etc.) are covered entirely through small individual crowdfunding donations.
- No corporate, institutional, governmental, political, or large-scale grants are received.
Independence and Safeguards
- Editorial decisions are made exclusively by the fact-checking team according to Diplotic’s publicly available methodology.
- No donor, contributor, or the founder has any right to review, suggest changes, or influence the content or conclusions of fact-checks.
- All team members strictly follow the declaration of non-partisanship and disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
Financial overview
We commit to publishing an annual transparency statement (including updated funding sources and basic expenditure summary) every December. As we grow and diversify funding, all donors contributing 5% or more of annual revenue will be listed by name and amount/range.
