Fans will be able to join the MCU’s First Family live from the blue carpet this July.
Marvel Studios is giving fans an unprecedented front-row experience to one of its most highly anticipated Phase Six productions—Fantastic Four: First Steps. On July 21, 2025, Disney+ will be streaming the blue carpet premiere of the film live, giving audiences around the world a chance to join the excitement, interviews, and special sneak peeks in real time. A first in history for the Marvel Cinematic Universe: a live premiere presentation streamed to audiences around the globe on Disney’s flagship streaming platform. Livestream starts at 7 p.m. PT / 10 p.m. ET, and the full replay will be posted shortly afterward.
An All-Star Return to Marvel’s Roots
Directed by Matt Shakman (WandaVision), Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces Marvel’s “First Family” into a bold, stylized reimagining. The film stars:
Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic
Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm / Invisible Woman
Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm / Human Torch
Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm / The Thing
Julia Garner joins the cast as a new take on the Silver Surfer, and Ralph Ineson as the cosmic villain, Galactus. The livestream will also feature interviews with the cast and creative team, including executive producer Kevin Feige, director Matt Shakman, and composer Michael Giacchino, among others.
“This isn’t a red carpet. It’s an entry into the Fantastic Four universe before the movie even hits theaters,” Marvel revealed via Collider.
A New Era for MCU Premieres
Traditionally, MCU movie launches are press events, but Disney+ is making the spectacle virtual. By doing so, Marvel is making a gesture in the direction of inclusivity—allowing everyday fans to take part in the excitement reserved for celebrities and members of the media. This becomes the template for forthcoming tentpole releases. If this succeeds, we can expect such livestreams on future films like Avengers: Secret Wars or Blade. Insiders say the goal is to blend red-carpet glamour with streaming convenience—making big moments instantly available and social media-ready.
What to Expect from First Steps
Fantastic Four: First Steps is set to reboot the classic heroes in a retro-futuristic universe drawn from the 1960s comic origins. The story follows the team when they undertake a quest to stop Galactus from threatening Earth—especially Reed and Sue’s unborn child, Franklin. Teasers released before the movie indicate dramatic emotional sequences, jaw-dropping visuals, and a blend of vintage Marvel optimism and cosmic-sized drama. While plot details are being withheld, the film has been announced as a Phase Six centerpiece and a precursor to Avengers: Doomsday, due out in 2026.
More Than Just a Hype
Since some of the more recent MCU films have been greeted with controversy, Marvel seems determined to fan the flames of enthusiasm. By letting the public experience the premiere glitz, the studio is building steam and reasserting itself as an innovator. First-ever livestream also reflects growing synergy between Marvel’s on-screen and streaming output. With the MCU pushing forward in emerging platforms, this kind of immersive experience may be the new norm.
