In a dramatic late-night social media spree, President Donald Trump returned to familiar territory—firing off fiery accusations and reviving old grievances. This time, it happened in the early hours of Wednesday morning on Truth Social, and the spotlight was on the autopen.

Trump posted just after 2 a.m. EDT, first praising Chinese President Xi Jinping while warning that he is “VERY TOUGH, AND EXTREMELY HARD TO MAKE A DEAL WITH!!!” Minutes later, he boasted, “THE UNITED STATES HAD THE BEST MAY IN 30 YEARS. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”

But his most explosive claim came shortly after.

“With the exception of the RIGGED PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION OF 2020, THE AUTOPEN IS THE BIGGEST POLITICAL SCANDAL IN AMERICAN HISTORY!!!”

The bold statement instantly lit up online political circles. Trump’s post came hours after news broke that the Justice Department was reviewing pardons signed by President Joe Biden in the final days of his term. The investigation reportedly centers on whether Biden was mentally aware of the pardons being issued—or if others might have used tools like the autopen without his full consent.

What’s the Autopen Controversy?

The autopen is a device that allows documents to be signed using a mechanical version of a person’s signature. Presidents have used it for decades, including George W. Bush and Barack Obama. In fact, USA Today confirmed that there is no law preventing the use of an autopen—even for signing pardons.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the question isn’t whether Biden used the autopen—it’s whether he knew it was being used.

At the moment, no concrete evidence shows that Biden’s autopen was used improperly or without his knowledge.

Why Is Trump Sounding the Alarm?

Trump’s renewed outrage over both the 2020 election and now the autopen suggests he’s laying the groundwork for a powerful political narrative. By labeling it the “BIGGEST POLITICAL SCAM,” he’s signaling to his base that he views this issue as a serious breach of trust.

Even without hard proof, the sheer volume and intensity of his late-night posts show this is more than a passing gripe—it’s a message with staying power.

What Happens Next?

With a DOJ investigation underway and Trump turning up the heat, the autopen debate is unlikely to fade soon. Whether this results in serious findings or just more political posturing, one thing is clear: Trump is already shaping the next chapter of America’s political drama.

And, as always, he’s doing it in all caps.
